Several Terra Nova artists recently took part in Shrewsbury School’s annual Art Competition for pupils in Years 5-7, which this year explored the inspiring theme “Weather Wonders: Art Inspired by the Skies.”
The competition attracted around 100 entries from schools across the region and beyond, with pupils submitting imaginative and thoughtful pieces responding to the ever-changing beauty of the sky. From this strong field of entries, just 18 finalists were selected and invited to attend a special celebration event at Shrewsbury School.
Among those finalists were six Terra Nova pupils, and the school is immensely proud of their achievements. Isla was named winner of her year category, while Beau was awarded runner-up in his category – a wonderful recognition of their creativity and artistic skill. Congratulations are also due to all Terra Nova pupils who entered the competition, whose enthusiasm, hard work and artistic flair were evident throughout.
Finalists spent the day at Shrewsbury School taking part in a creative art workshop, where they experimented with a variety of materials including paints and textiles. Guided by Shrewsbury’s Art students and staff, pupils explored new techniques and developed their ideas in a collaborative and inspiring studio environment.
The day concluded with presentations celebrating the competition winners and finalists, followed by a well-earned and delicious lunch together.
It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to immerse themselves in creative exploration, meet fellow young artists and celebrate the power of imagination through art.
