This week, pupils from Year 7 enjoyed an exciting and immersive movie-making day at Shrewsbury School, working alongside children from schools across the region to create their own short films.
The day began with an introduction to the art of filmmaking, as pupils explored different camera angles and learnt how to shoot a three-shot sequence. They then moved into collaborative planning sessions, where mixed-school teams worked together to develop storylines, write scripts and assign roles including directors, camera crew and actors. Choosing props and refining ideas gave every pupil the opportunity to contribute creatively while building confidence and teamwork skills.
Following a sunny lunchtime spent enjoying football and games on the lawn, the afternoon saw the teams bring their ideas to life as they filmed their own ten-shot productions across the beautiful Shrewsbury campus.
The day concluded with a special screening for parents, followed by an Oscars-style awards ceremony celebrating the pupils’ creativity, collaboration and enthusiasm throughout the experience.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for Terra Nova pupils to develop communication, teamwork and storytelling skills in a fun and inspiring environment, while also making new friendships with pupils from other schools.
