Welcome to Nursery at Terra Nova School, where we care and nurture children from 2.5 years old in our Lower and Upper Nursery rooms.
In our setting, we ensure that every child’s early years are filled with joy, wonder and a love of learning, gently guiding them as they take their first steps into school life.
Pastoral care is at the heart of all we do, as we believe happy children will flourish. Our dedicated team of nurturing, passionate staff pride themselves on knowing each child as an individual and building strong relationships with each and every family.

To support this, each child is assigned a ‘Key Person’, who oversees their wellbeing, development and acts as a main point of contact between our setting and home.
Our environment sets the tone for learning and indoor and outdoor spaces work in harmony. The children have access to our extensive school grounds and together, we cherish time outdoors. They enjoy time in the vegetable garden, Forest School, as well as through ample opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world. The classroom environments are bright, open spaces fostering curiosity, independence and collaboration. Open-ended, natural resources inspire children’s imagination, creativity and endless opportunities for discovery.
Through a carefully-planned, broad curriculum, the children develop critical thinking, creativity and the fundamental skills to become lifelong learners. Our teaching is based around the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Child-led learning and play-based exploration underpin our approach, where learning is enhanced through positive interaction with adults whose careful questioning, observations and reflective practice allow each child to thrive. Our dedicated practitioners follow the children’s interests and recent experiences, allowing them to create personalised learning opportunities. Here, we go beyond the EYFS Framework, offering weekly specialist teaching in Music and Drama, Sport and French. These specialisms deepen the children’s understanding of the world around them.
From Nursery, children progress to our Reception classes in September after they turn 4 years old.
