Our Year 4 pupils stepped into the senior Science lab last week for an unforgettable hands-on milestone: earning their official Bunsen burner licence!
Under the expert guidance of their Science teacher, Miss Alexander, pupils learnt the essential rules of lab safety, from wearing protective goggles to mastering how to safely light, adjust and shut off the gas burner. Demonstrating fantastic focus, responsibility and scientific curiosity, every pupil successfully passed the test.
“It was wonderful to have the Year 4s in the lab today. We were so impressed by their conduct and safety awareness,” Miss Alexander explained. “We are learning about states of matter this term, and have some really exciting lessons planned in the Science lab. Now the children have their bunsen burner licences, they can begin to work more independently during these practical investigations.”
“I loved it! It was so exciting being able to light the Bunsen burners ourselves!” (Year 4 pupil).
“It’s a big treat when we get to go up into the science lab and wear the lab coat and goggles.” (Year 4 pupil).
Congratulations to everyone in Year 4.
