What a day of football for TN!
We travelled to Shrewsbury School with two minibuses full of U11 and U13 boys and girls, all ready to take on a busy day of football at this eagerly anticipated event.
The morning consisted of 8-minute rounds played across a number of stations, giving the children the opportunity to develop their skills, compete, and enjoy some fantastic football using the excellent facilities and equipment at Shrewsbury, alongside some great coaches.
After an energetic morning, it was time for the afternoon round-robin tournament, and this is where the competition really heated up.
Our U11 boys put in a fantastic performance, going unbeaten throughout the tournament. They narrowly missed out on reaching the final, but showed great determination and finished with a very respectable 3rd place.
The U11 girls faced a tough run of games against some strong opposition. They battled hard throughout and never gave up, finishing 4th overall after a fantastic effort from the whole team.
Then came the U13 girls, and this is where the excitement really started! They won all but one of their group games to secure their place in the final. The final itself was a thrilling and tense encounter, finishing 0–0 after and going straight to penalties.
With nerves of steel, our goalkeeper produced some fantastic saves, while the girls stepped up and calmly put away some finely taken penalties. The final whistle confirmed it, Terra Nova were tournament winners.
But one win wasn’t enough!
Our U13 boys went on an unbeaten run of their own, battling their way through the tournament and into the final. They certainly knew how to keep everyone on the edge of their seats, as they left it until the very last minute of the final to secure the winning goal!
The determination and grit from the boys saw them fight right until the final whistle, securing another tournament win.
It was a fantastic day of football all round, with impressive performances, teamwork, determination and, most importantly, smiles from our boys and girls.
A huge well done to every single Terra Nova player who represented the school so brilliantly throughout the day. Two tournament wins, a 3rd place and a 4th place finish made for an incredibly successful day, and one that everyone involved can be proud of.
Finally, a massive thank you to Shrewsbury School for hosting us and providing such fantastic facilities, equipment and coaching. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, meeting pupils from many schools across the region, and look forward to returning again in the future.
