Piano pupils from Year 2 to Year 8 were invited to take part in a piano masterclass at Shrewsbury School. They performed in the recital hall on a Steinway grand piano, playing in front of Shrewsbury music tutors and pupils from partner schools.
The performers began the session with a physical warm-up before taking part in focused instruction on correct posture, hand placement and the effective use of arm weight with Head of Keyboard at Shrewsbury. They were also guided on how to play with musical expression and meticulous attention to detail, right through to the final note of each performance.
The workshop was a pleasure to witness, with each pupil demonstrating confidence, musicality and professionalism throughout. Mr Paget, Mr Westall and Mrs Venables expressed immense pride in the pupils, not only for the high standard of their performances but also for their exemplary conduct during the event.
