The Junior Eco Club has been busy championing an important cause here at Terra Nova – stopping engine idling and keeping our air clean. Over recent weeks, Eco Club members noticed that some cars were left idling while parents waited to collect their children. Determined to make a difference, they sprang into action with enthusiasm and purpose.
The pupils created eye-catching, informative posters which are now proudly displayed around the school. These posters remind us all of the simple but powerful impact turning off our engines can have on air quality and the environment. Already, we’re delighted to see these messages making a real difference!
Not stopping there, the Eco Club also delivered a fantastic presentation during assembly, confidently sharing their message with both parents and students. They explained how idling contributes to air pollution and climate change, and how small actions – like switching off the key – can add up to big change for our planet.
So, next time you’re waiting at pick-up, please remember the Eco Club’s message: turn off the key and be idle-free! If it’s a chilly day, pop on an extra layer instead. Together, we can protect our environment, keep our air clean, and show our young eco-leaders that their voices matter.
A huge thank you and well done to the Junior Eco Club for leading the way!
