Character Through Sport
Sport is an important part of our community, our character and our success. Our Sports department works with our pupils to develop physical skills in addition to developing their confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork. These personal qualities and attributes, alongside fairness, respect and the encouragement of others, play an important role in developing the well-rounded character that is evident in all Terra Nova pupils, which they are able to carry with them into their futures both on and off of the pitch.

girls' sport
Throughout the year, girls enjoy Hockey, Football, Netball, Cricket and Athletics in their main sports sessions.

boys' sport
Throughout the year, boys enjoy Football, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket and Athletics in their main sports sessions.
From Year 3, every pupil is given the opportunity to represent the School in competitive matches, no matter their ability or experience. Weekly fixtures against other Schools primarily take place each Tuesday for pupils in Years 3-4, and each Wednesday for Years 5-8.
Additional opportunities, masterclasses, tournaments and meetings for wider sports such as Cross-Country, Tennis and Athletics also take place throughout the year. It is during all of these events, no matter which sport, where pupils’ hard work and personal character truly shine.
building character through sport
Every sporting activity is an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate the school’s core values:
resilience
confidence
open-mindedness
discipline
kindness
We also encourage a sense of drive, teamwork, and personal commitment in every child. Sport at Terra Nova is about more than competition – it’s about growth, enjoyment, and developing character on and off the pitch.
