Staff and pupils have had a fantastic time celebrating European Day of Languages 2026 across the school.
To kick off the celebrations, Madame Egli (Head of MFL and Humanities) ran a special assembly highlighting just how important learning languages can be. Pupils were inspired as they watched videos of sports stars like Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Novak Djokovic speaking different languages, including Spanish, French, German, Slovak and Arabic.
At morning break, the excitement moved to a French pop-up café hosted by our brilliant Year 6 children. Pupils and teachers put their conversational skills to the test by ordering delicious croissants entirely in French.
“I was very impressed by the Year 6 helpers and with the quality of French spoken by all pupils. C’était magnifique!” – Madame Egli.
In Pre-Prep, the children took on the role of teacher and shared their linguistic skills with their peers. We learnt greetings and how to introduce ourselves in French, Spanish, Italian and Danish.
Building on the international theme, Madame Egli has also launched this year’s Great Global Bake Off this week.
“We’re asking all pupils to bake a globally inspired cake, biscuit or dessert. Each entry gets two housepoints, and the house with the most entries will be awarded extra points,” she explained.
Pupils must email a photo of their homemade international showstopper to Madame Egli (rebecca.egli@tnschool.co.uk) by Monday 12th October.
