In recent weeks, Terra Nova pupils have been excelling on the slopes of Europe and here in the UK.
Year 6 pupil Imogen enjoyed great success in the Welsh Alpine Ski Championships, which took place in Champéry-Les Crosets in Switzerland in mid-January. Racing a year-up at Under-12 level, Imogen placed second in the Giant Slalom, and third in the Slalom race, returning home adorned with silver and bronze medals. On receiving her medals from Mrs Westall in front of a packed Assembly this week, Imogen expressed both pride in her performance, and a determination to become even faster as she moves forward.
Arthur D in Year 4 has also tasted success in ski racing, recently making his competitive debut for his club, Stoke Scorpions. Successfully completing the slalom course in just over 20 seconds, Arthur was rightfully proud of his achievements, although remarked to Mrs Westall that he certainly “could have gone faster”!
Both Imogen and Arthur are looking forward to the opportunity to represent Terra Nova at the upcoming IAPS Alpine Ski Championships in Passo Tonale in March, alongside 11 other pupils, marking TN’s debut in the annual competition. We cannot wait to see how far the team can go!
